The European Union, through the Global Health EDCTP3 programme under Horizon Europe, has launched a funding call aimed at improving healthcare research and delivery systems in Sub‑Saharan Africa through digital innovation and artificial intelligence.
The initiative seeks projects that integrate advanced digital technologies into healthcare research and clinical systems. This includes the development of digital health tools, AI‑driven health analytics, and data platforms that support more effective healthcare services and research collaboration.
The program aims to strengthen research capacity, improve health outcomes, and promote cross‑continental partnerships between African and European institutions.
Funded projects are expected to help address major health challenges by enabling better disease detection, prevention, treatment, and management through technology‑driven solutions.
Each selected project may receive up to €2.25 million in funding, with a total indicative program budget of approximately €18 million, supporting several collaborative research initiatives.

Consortia must include at least three independent organizations from different countries, including at least one institution based in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
